Clone a server: copy files onto another of your servers
Copy a game server's files 1:1 onto another of your servers of the same game, with startup parameters and schedules if you like, or order a new server with the same setup.
Cloning is in your game server's Clone tab. Only the person who ordered the server sees this tab, and files are only copied between servers that belong to you. Our server node copies the files directly; you download nothing.
Choose the direction
- Copy from here
- This server is the source; another one gets its files.
- Copy to here
- Another of your servers is the source; this one is overwritten.
- Order a new one
- A new server on the same plan that gets these files once it is set up.
You can choose among your servers of the same game. If one does not fit right now, the reason is shown next to it, for example when it is being installed, is suspended, or its files do not fit the target's storage.
Clone
Choose the direction and the target or source server. Under What happens you see what is copied and what is replaced.
Choose what happens to the target's current files: Move current files to the recycle bin (recommended, restorable for 7 days) or Overwrite (files with the same name are replaced, everything else stays).
Under Also copy, add Startup parameters and Schedules. Ports stay the target's; schedules are added beside the target's.
With Stop the source server while copying the copy is consistent, for example of a world being saved; the source starts again by itself afterwards.
Confirm by holding. The target server stops, and the steps show the progress.
You can close the page; you get a notification when cloning is finished. The target server then stays off until you start it with Start server. If something is missing at the end, Copy what is missing copies it; a new attempt copies again over what is already there.
Order a new one with this setup
Order a new one puts the same plan with the same term and the same extras into your basket, at today's price; you see it there before you order. After payment the new server is set up as usual, then our node copies the files with startup parameters and schedules onto it. Only what you pay for in the basket is ordered.
What is not copied
- Databases are not copied. Copied settings still point to the source's databases afterwards; create the target's own if it should not use the same ones.
- The target's sharing, backups and address stay as they are.
Limits
- Only between servers of the same game. For another game, first switch the target's game under Change game.
- The source's files must fit into the target's storage; with the recycle bin, the target's current files count too.
- Not while a server is being installed, moved to another node, or while a backup is being restored.
- To fetch files from another host, use Move from another host.
