Move from another host
Is your server still running elsewhere? With the old host's SFTP or FTP login the portal copies the files 1:1 onto your new server, without a detour through your PC.
First order a server for the same game. Then open its Move from another host tab. The copy runs between the old server and our server node; your login details are used only for this and are not stored.
What you need
- The old host's SFTP login (address, port, user, password or SSH key). At many game server hosts the port is often
2022. - Where there is no SFTP: FTPS, or as a last resort unencrypted FTP.
- Enough storage on the new server for what you copy.
How the move works
Old server
Choose SFTP, FTPS or FTP, enter the address and port and press Check connection. This only fetches the old server's fingerprint.
Confirm the fingerprint
Check that it is your server and confirm with This is my server.
Enter the user and password (or SSH key), a different start folder if you like, then Sign in and list the folder. Your new server is stopped for this; its files are untouched.
Choose
Everything or a Selection of folders. The new server's current files go to the recycle bin (restorable for 7 days) or are overwritten, as you choose.
Start
Enter the password once more and start the move by holding. The portal shows progress, speed and time left. You can close the page; when it is done you get a notification.
Then start the server. If something is missing, Copy what is missing copies it and skips what is already complete. If you do not like the result, Bring back previous files restores your new server's earlier state. On Minecraft, accept the EULA on the overview before the first start.
Change your password at the old host after the move. The move changes and deletes nothing on the old server itself.
Limits
- Files are copied. A game server's databases are not moved along.
- A copy may take at most 8 hours; it also ends when the new server's storage is full.
- Symbolic links are not copied.
- Only the person who ordered the server sees the tab.
