Connect a domain to your website
How your own domain gets onto your website: add the domain, prove it is yours, set the DNS records. The certificate for HTTPS comes by itself.
Every website has a free preview address from the start. You connect your own domain in the website's Domains tab. The domain must already be listed under Domains in your account: see Add and connect a domain.
Connecting
Press Connect a domain.
Choose the domain and the name in front:
@for the domain itself, or sayshopforshop.your-domain.com. If you like,www.forwards as well.Prove the domain is yours: with a TXT record
_goodflare.<domain>the portal shows you, or automatically when the domain is connected to Cloudflare.Set the DNS records. With Cloudflare connected, Set records does it; otherwise enter them at your DNS provider and press Check.
- The domain itself (`@`)
- A record (and AAAA, if shown) to the address the portal names
- Subdomain (`shop`, `www`)
- CNAME to the name the portal names
With Cloudflare: create the records without the proxy (grey cloud, “DNS only”). Through Cloudflare's proxy your website cannot get its certificate.
HTTPS
Every address gets its certificate automatically on its first visit. There is nothing to upload or renew.
Afterwards
Make main address makes a domain the address the website appears under. Detach from the website takes it off again; the domain stays in your account.
