Add and connect a domain

Under Domains you manage domains you already own. Adding one changes nothing at your registrar. Buying a domain from us or transferring it to us is not possible yet; it is coming. Until then, register a domain with a provider of your choice and add it here afterwards.

Adding a domain

   Open Add domain and enter the domain. The portal looks up where it is registered, which nameservers it has and which records exist already.

   Choose how you would like to manage the records (see below).

   Press Add domain and connect, depending on your choice.

The ways

• Manage here, through your Cloudflare account (recommended if the domain is on Cloudflare): connect your Cloudflare account with Connect with Cloudflare or with an API token for exactly this zone (template “Edit zone DNS”). Then you edit the records here, and the portal writes only to that one zone.
• Move to your Cloudflare account: if the domain is not on Cloudflare yet, the portal creates the zone and names the nameservers you enter at your registrar. If DNSSEC is on, remove the DS record first.
• Stay with … (your DNS provider): the portal shows the records needed to copy and checks every 30 seconds whether they are there. It cannot change anything there.

Editing records

In the Records tab you edit A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, CAA and NS once the domain is connected to Cloudflare. Other types are shown there, but you change them at Cloudflare itself.

Templates

In the Templates tab you set everything a service needs at once. With Cloudflare the portal applies them (confirmed by holding); otherwise you copy the records and let them be checked.

• Connect a Minecraft server: say play.your-domain.com with an A record and an SRV record, so players join without a port. Bedrock does not know SRV records; there the port goes with it.
• Connect a VPS: A and AAAA to your server, with www if you like.
• Connect TeamSpeak: SRV record for port 9987.
• Email providers: Zoho, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Proton and mailbox.org.

A game server can also be reached under a name without a domain of your own: in the server's Network tab under Address with a name. Websites are connected in the website's Domains tab: Connect a domain to your website.

Limits

• Up to 50 domains per account.
• A domain belongs to one account. If another account confirms the same domain, you get a message.
