Install plugins and mods
Search, install, update and remove plugins and mods right in the customer area. With dependencies, automatic updates and a check after the start.
Whether your server loads plugins or mods depends on its software: Paper, Purpur and Folia load plugins, Fabric, Forge and NeoForge load mods. The tab is therefore called Plugins, Mods or Plugins & Mods. Vanilla loads neither; to use them, switch the software under Version.
Where plugins and mods come from
- Paper, Purpur
- Modrinth, Hangar and SpigotMC
- Folia, Velocity
- Modrinth and Hangar
- Fabric, Forge, NeoForge
- Modrinth
- Datapacks
- Modrinth, in the Datapacks tab
CurseForge is not supported. Paid or externally hosted plugins from SpigotMC cannot be installed from here; upload such files yourself under Files into the plugins folder.
Installing
Open the Plugins (or Mods) tab and its Discover view. Without a search term you see the most downloaded ones for your software.
Search by name. Each result says whether there is a version for your Minecraft version (for 1.21.4) or not. Mods that only belong in the game are marked client-only, not for the server.
Press Install. With Version you can pick a specific version if needed. Required dependencies from Modrinth and Hangar come along automatically.
Restart the server: plugins and mods only take effect after a restart. The tab offers Restart now for this.
Install game-only mods, such as minimaps, shaders or Sodium, on your PC, not on the server.
Updating
Under Installed you see what has a newer version, with Update all or one row at a time. With Update automatically the portal checks every six hours and puts in new versions that fit your software and Minecraft version; they take effect at the next restart. This covers only what was installed through the portal, and only regular releases. Leave single ones out or add them with Auto in their row.
Turning off and removing
- Turn off renames the file to
.jar.disabled: it stays on the server but is not loaded. You can turn it on again at any time. - Remove deletes the file from the server for good (not through the recycle bin). If you like, the settings in the plugin's folder are deleted too. You confirm by holding the button.
Files you uploaded yourself under Files are listed as uploaded yourself.
Plugin health after the start
On servers with plugins the Plugin health card reads the log of the last start and shows for each plugin whether it runs or why not: for example Dependency missing, For a different Minecraft version or Config file broken. From there you jump to the line in the log, or update the plugin when there is a newer version.
Own server file
If your server runs your own .jar, the portal cannot be sure where it looks for plugins, so it installs nothing from here. Put plugins and mods in place yourself under Files.
