Export everything: take your game server with you
In one click you download everything of your game server: files, databases and setup. Also after your contract has ended, until the data is deleted.
Export everything is in your game server's Backups tab, below the list of backups.
What is in it
- Files: the whole server directory as a
.tar.gzarchive, without the recycle bin. - Databases: every database of the server as an
.sqlfile, made with the database's own login. - Setup:
goodflare-export.jsonwith the startup line, variables, game and version, ports and the extensions installed through the portal. The ZIP file also holds aREADME.txtthat says what goes where.
Start an export
Open the Backups tab and press Start export under Export everything.
The steps show how far it is. Saving the files takes longest; you can leave the page meanwhile.
When it is done, download everything as one ZIP file or each part on its own.
If the server is running, its files are saved while it runs. For a fully clean state, of a world for example, stop it first.
One file or one by one
Up to 1 GB in total, everything comes as one ZIP file. Larger exports are downloaded in parts: the files' archive straight from the server's node, each database and the setup on their own. If a database cannot be opened, the parts are offered one by one as well.
How long the links work
The downloads work for 24 hours from the start. After that we delete the export copy; your server and its backups stay as they are. A new export replaces the last, up to four a day per server.
The copy of the files takes none of your backup slots and does not show in the list of backups.
After your contract ends
When a contract ends, because it was cancelled or ended over an open payment, the server stops and we keep its data for 30 more days, until it is deleted. The date is at the top of the server's page, and until then you also find Take everything with you there, with the same export. The links then work until the deletion at the latest.
Who can export
The server's owner, and anyone the server is shared with who holds every right it needs: create backups, view files, databases and setup. The downloads only work when signed in.
Restoring elsewhere
- Files: unpack the archive (for example with
tar -xzf) and upload its contents over SFTP into the server directory at your new host. - Databases: create an empty database there and load the
.sqlfile into it, for example withmysql name < file.sqlor the import in that host's panel. - Take the startup line and variables from
goodflare-export.jsonor the README.
Back to us: restore the files' archive on a GoodFlare game server with Upload a backup, and the .sql files in the Databases tab.
