Control servers from Discord
With the GoodFlare bot you see and control your servers with slash commands in Discord. In your community's Discord you give a role such as “Mods” chosen rights on a game server.
Add the bot
Open Account · Discord bot and press Add the bot to a Discord server.
In Discord, choose your server (you need the “Manage Server” permission there) or add the bot for yourself only. The bot gets no permissions in your Discord and reads no messages.
Link your Discord account
If you have signed in to GoodFlare with Discord before, your Discord account is already linked. Otherwise type /goodflare link in Discord: the bot shows a link to you only, you sign in to GoodFlare and press Link. The link is valid for 10 minutes. You get a security email about it.
The commands
- /server status
- State, address, version and players, like the status card
- /server players
- Who is online right now
- /server start
- Start the server
- /server stop, /server restart
- Stop or restart, after a confirmation with buttons
- /server console
- Send a console command, after a confirmation
- /server backup
- Create a backup now
While you type, the bot suggests the servers you may control from there. It answers visible to you only and mentions nobody. It acts with exactly your rights in GoodFlare: on a shared server the share's rights, in a team the team's rules including the two-factor requirement. Every action is listed in the server's activity with “via Discord” and your Discord name.
Rights for a role in your community's Discord
Add the bot to your community's Discord and link your Discord account (above).
Type /goodflare grant there, choose your game server, the role (such as “Mods”) and what it may do: status and players only, plus start, stop and restart, plus console commands, or plus backups. This works only as the game server's owner and with the “Manage Server” permission in Discord.
Under Account · Discord bot you see every role allowed, switch single rights on and off, or remove the grant by holding.
- A grant applies to one game server and only in that one Discord server.
- Members with the role need no GoodFlare account.
- The @everyone role may at most see the status.
- If the owner hands the server over, the grant ends. While the security lock is on, it rests.
- Every change to a grant is listed in the server's activity.
Whoever may send console commands can run admin commands in many games. Only give this right to roles you trust with it.
Unlink
Type /goodflare unlink in Discord, or unlink it under Account · Discord bot. After that this Discord account controls no servers until you link it again with a code.
Limits
- 20 commands a minute per Discord account, 60 per Discord server.
- Start, stop and restart 6 times a minute per server, backups 6 an hour.
- A confirmation is valid for 2 minutes.
- Cancelling, reinstalling and deleting are not possible from Discord.
