Notifications by email, push, Discord and WhatsApp
Choose what you hear about and how: a crash, a failed backup, a renewal. For the whole account and for each game server on its own.
Every message lands in your notifications (the bell at the top) for 90 days, whatever the switches say. Where else it goes is set under Account, Notification settings. Emails always go to your account's address.
The channels
- Email: always there, nothing to set up.
- Discord: through a webhook into a channel of your choice.
- Push in the browser: messages on this device, even when the portal is not open.
- WhatsApp: to your mobile number, after confirming it with a code. If WhatsApp is not offered in your account, we do not offer it yet.
Set up Discord
In Discord: Edit Channel › Integrations › Webhooks › New Webhook › Copy Webhook URL.
Paste the address in your account under Webhook URL and press Add. It must start with
https://discord.com/api/webhooks/; the portal checks it with Discord. With Send test message you see right away whether it arrives.
Push in the browser
Under Notifications in this browser press Turn on and allow notifications when the browser asks. This applies to this one device; set up other devices the same way on each. On iPhone and iPad this works from iOS 16.4, and only in the installed app (Safari › Share › Add to Home Screen).
If WhatsApp is offered: Add, enter your mobile number, tick that you want messages by WhatsApp and press Send code. Enter the code from WhatsApp under Confirmation code (valid for ten minutes). You can opt out at any time with the tick, or by writing STOPP in the chat.
What goes where
The table below has a column per channel and a row per event. Server events include Crash, Stopped unexpectedly, Back online, Backup failed, Storage almost full and messages from your own automations. Contract events include the renewal in 3 days, a failed payment and a low balance.
For a failed payment, an open renewal, a server that was stopped or will soon be deleted, the email is always sent; it cannot be switched off.
Under Status updates you choose whether you get all disruptions and maintenance from the status page or only what affects your servers. Recently sent shows what went out to you lately.
For a single game server
In a game server's Notifications tab, As in your account applies at first. Change a switch there and the server gets its own selection. It can also have its own Discord channel, and with Status card in Discord a message in the channel keeps the server's name, state, players and address up to date. VPS and websites have no such tab; the account's selection applies to them.
People you share a server with only switch Alerts for this server on or off for themselves.
