Delete your account
You can delete your account yourself at any time. What is deleted at once, what we must keep for legal reasons, and what has to be finished first.
You find the deletion under Account, Delete account. It cannot be undone.
To finish first
While something is still running or open, the account cannot be deleted. The card names what is missing, with a link to it:
- Servers still running, including cancelled ones before their contract ends: Cancel contracts here.
- Open invoices: Invoices.
- A negative balance, a refund or top-up still on its way, a withdrawal being processed.
- Running IT support.
Servers that have already ended and whose data we only keep for a reactivation do not hold up the deletion; they are deleted along with it.
We do not pay out a balance automatically. If you would like it back, write us a ticket before deleting. Credits for outages count as balance and are not paid out.
Deleting
Press Delete account. If your sign-in is older than 10 minutes, briefly confirm that it is you.
Confirm that you have read the note about the balance, and type delete account.
Hold the button until it is full.
The account is deleted at once, with no waiting period. You are signed out and get a last email at your previous address. Open tickets are closed. If you sign in later with the same address, a new, empty account is created.
What is deleted at once
- Your profile: name, email address, address, picture and settings.
- Passkeys, two-factor, signed-in devices and linked Google or Discord accounts.
- SSH keys, SFTP access and API tokens.
- Saved payment methods, at Stripe too.
- Notification settings, notifications, WhatsApp number and push devices.
- Domains in the DNS area and the Cloudflare connection.
- Sharing: your access to others' servers and your invitations.
- Firewalls, address lists and private networks.
- Orders that were never paid and have no invoice.
What we must keep
The law requires us to keep some records. Afterwards they are filed only under your customer number, and nobody can sign in to the account any more:
- Invoices, credit notes, payment records and the orders an invoice was written for, with the address as printed on them: 8 years (German fiscal code, VAT act).
- Cancellations and withdrawals as business letters: 6 years.
- Tickets: 3 years.
Each period runs from the end of the year the record was made in; an invoice from 2026, for example, until the end of 2034. After that we delete it.
