Change plan and book add-ons
More or fewer resources for a game server, VPS or container, without a ticket. More applies at once and is paid pro rata, less from the next renewal. Below it you book extras such as more backup slots or extra IPv4 addresses.
Both are in your server's Change plan tab: the plan at the top, the Add-ons below. Only the person who ordered the server sees this tab. The price follows the resources: memory, vCPU and storage.
Choose a new plan
Under New plan, choose one of the Packages or set memory, processor and storage yourself under Custom resources.
The page shows the new price, the difference to today and from when it applies, and for more resources how today's amount is calculated.
Confirm by holding. If something is due, it is paid with your saved payment method or in the browser in the next step.
More resources: at once, paid pro rata
Today you only pay the difference for the remaining days of the current term: (new price − current price) × remaining days ÷ days in the term. If you have a balance, it is used first. Below €0.50 we charge nothing, but small changes within the same term add up. After payment the server gets the new resources, and the new price applies from the next renewal. If the payment fails, everything stays as it is.
- Game server
- So that the game uses the extra memory, restart the server once.
- VM
- Choose Restart right away (gone for about a minute) or At the next restart. Until then it runs with the previous resources.
- Container
- Gets vCPU, memory and storage at once, without a restart.
On a VPS or container, storage can only grow, never shrink again. A later smaller plan also keeps at least this storage.
Fewer resources: at the next renewal
A smaller plan applies from the next renewal; nothing is refunded for the current term. Until then you keep the current resources and can undo the change with Withdraw. If the data does not fit the smaller storage on the day of the change, the previous plan stays and we let you know. A game server gets the smaller memory at its next start, a VM after its next restart.
Which plan fits?
On a game server, Which plan fits? works out how much memory it needs: from the players at the same time, how many mods (none, a few, a large modpack) and, where the game cares, the view distance, the map or the save. The recommendation shows the plan with its resources and price, gives its reasons and says where it is an estimate because the developer publishes no figures. While the advisor is open, the recommended plan above carries the line Recommended. Choose this plan puts it in above as the new plan; nothing changes until you pay and switch. The hosting page uses the same advisor with the same rules.
The usage hint
At the end of the page there is sometimes a card about usage over the last days: when the server reaches its limits, or when a smaller package would clearly be enough. We only suggest a smaller one when the server has run long enough and the order or the last change was at least 60 days ago. The card only selects the plan above; nothing changes until you confirm there. Don't show again hides it.
Add-ons
- Game servers: “More backup slots”. Can be booked several times, each adding slots; the page shows how often. Also available when ordering.
- VPS and containers: “Extra IPv4 address”, each routed as a /32, several per server, as many as are free right now. They are listed under Network afterwards, usually active within a few minutes.
- VPS and containers: “IPv6 subnet” (a /64 of your own). While it says Coming soon, it cannot be booked yet.
Once booked, an add-on applies at once; today you pay pro rata until the end of the term, after that it is part of the renewal. Cancel ends it with the same notice as the server: at the end of the term, with no refund for the current term. As a consumer past the first term it ends with one month's notice, and we refund the paid time after that pro rata. You can withdraw the cancellation until the end. Add-ons booked several times are reduced with Reduce to ….
- If there are more backups than slots at the end, we delete nothing; a new manual backup is only possible again once there is room.
- When an IPv4 address ends, we take it off the server; it then rests for a day before anyone else can get it. Change DNS records beforehand.
When it is not possible
- An invoice is still open or the renewal is due right now: after the payment.
- The server is cancelled: withdraw the cancellation.
- Parts are split off a Minecraft server: merge them first under Split. A part itself has no plan of its own; its link leads to the main server.
- During a game switch, in the rescue system, or while another booking is running.
- With a fixed offer, plan and resources stay as agreed; write to us then.
If something was due, you find the invoice under Invoices.
