First steps
Sign in
Open the address from the Overview and sign in as
adminwith the password from First login, which can be shown exactly once.Add a website
In Umami, under Websites, add your site with its domain.
Embed the code
Umami shows a
<script>tag for the website. Put it in the<head>of your pages; the first visits appear a few seconds later.
Accounts
You add more accounts and teams in Umami itself. If the admin password gets lost, you set a new one under App settings; it applies to the oldest admin account.
Database, updates and backups
Umami runs with its own PostgreSQL database in the same package. A backup with a dump of the database is made every night, and the dump is renewed when the app stops and every hour. When you restore a backup, the app rebuilds the database from it. Before every update we make a safety copy and restore it if the new version fails our check.
Good to know
- Whether you need to name Umami in your privacy policy depends on your website. You are responsible for the data you collect with it; our terms apply here too.
