ntfy as a ready app
Push notifications to your phone and browser with one HTTP call, on your own ntfy server: add accounts and topics, send messages, connect the ntfy app.
First steps
Keep the admin password
Under First login on the Overview you show the password of the
adminaccount exactly once.An account for your scripts
Under App settings, Add account makes an account of its own, such as
monitoring, and you give it a right on a topic such asalerts. You see its password once.Send
One call is enough; your address is on the overview:
curl -u monitoring:<password> -d "Backup done" https://ntfy-….goodflare.me/alertsConnect the ntfy app
In the ntfy app for Android or iOS, add a server of your own with your address in the settings and sign in with an account. Then subscribe to a topic that account may read. In a browser, open the address directly.
Accounts and rights
Nobody may read or send without signing in. Every account needs a right on a topic: Read and send, Read only, Send only or No access. A topic may be a pattern: alerts* covers alerts, alerts-web and so on. The admin account may do everything and cannot be removed here.
Updates and backups
We keep ntfy up to date, with a safety copy before every update and a check after it. ntfy keeps messages for twelve hours for devices that are not connected; attachments up to 15 MB for three hours. A backup of the accounts and rights is made every night.
Good to know
- You are responsible for the messages that pass through your server; our terms apply here too.
- ntfy is open source (Apache-2.0).
