Mumble as a ready app
A low-latency voice server on a port of its own, run and updated by us: connect, create channels as SuperUser, set a password for visitors.
Connect
Get the client
The Mumble client is available for Windows, macOS and Linux on mumble.info; for phones there are apps such as Mumla.
Add the server
The address with its port is on the Overview, such as
5.230.123.133:30012. In the client you enter address and port separately; Open in the Mumble client hands both over on a device with the client installed.Connect
Connect with any name. If a Password for visitors is set, the client asks for it.
Manage as SuperUser
You manage channels, groups and rights in the client: connect with the user name SuperUser and the password from First login on the overview, which can be shown exactly once. You set a new password under App settings; connected users are disconnected briefly. Registered users with admin rights then manage without the SuperUser.
Server settings
Under App settings you set the root channel's name, the number of places (up to 100), a welcome message in the chat and a Password for visitors. Empty means anyone with the address can connect. The app restarts briefly after saving.
Updates and backups
We keep the server up to date, with a safety copy before every update and a check after it. A backup of channels, rights and registrations is made every night; you restore one under Backups.
Good to know
- You are responsible for what is said and shared on your server; our terms apply here too.
- The port is TCP and UDP; voice goes over UDP where the network allows it.
- Mumble is open source (BSD-3-Clause).
