Schedules: restarts, backups and commands at set times
Your game server handles recurring work by itself: restart daily, back up at night, save regularly. With templates, fixed times, intervals or cron.
Schedules are in the Schedules tab. All times are German time (Europe/Berlin).
Start from a template
- Daily restart
- Every day at 4:00, only while the server runs. On Minecraft it announces itself in chat 5 minutes and 1 minute before.
- Nightly backup
- A full backup every night at 3:30, even when the server is off.
- Save regularly
- Minecraft only:
save-allevery 30 minutes.
Press Create schedule, then Start from a template.
Pick the template. You can change the time and steps afterwards.
Save. The card shows when the schedule runs next.
When it runs
- Fixed times: every day, on weekdays, at weekends or on single days, at one or more times.
- At intervals: say every 30 minutes or every 2 hours (from 1 minute to 23 hours; seconds are not possible).
- Cron: an expression with five fields; the portal shows the next runs so you can check it.
With Only while the server is running a run is skipped while the server is off. You can pause a schedule without deleting it.
What it does
A schedule has up to 10 steps that run one after another:
- Command: a command to the console, such as
say Restart in 5 minutes. - On/off: start, stop, restart or end at once.
- Backup: a full backup. When all slots are in use, it replaces the oldest unlocked one.
Each step has a delay (up to 900 seconds) after the previous one; that is how you build “announce, wait 5 minutes, restart”. If a command fails, the run goes on; if on/off or a backup fails, the run ends. Create an empty schedule first and add the steps right on the schedule afterwards.
Run now tries a schedule straight away.
Good to know
- Something that should react to an event (a crash, a player joining) is an automation, not a schedule.
- People you share the server with need the Schedules right; for commands and on/off also Console, for backups Restore backups, because a scheduled backup may replace an old one.
- Deleting a schedule does not delete backups it has already made.
